Pink logos, dead butterflies, $500k bike, and Livestrong!?

According to Guinness World Records, the most expensive bike sold at auction was a “Butterfly bike” that Armstrong rode in the final stage of the 2009 Tour de France.

How much did this bike go for? A cool half a million dollars ($500,000 USD).

Get this – the butterflies on the bike are REAL (dead) butterflies. What the heck? That’s kinda creepy, although I don’t know if I would call it a horrific barbarity. It just seems to conflict with the Livestrong message. I guess butterflies aren’t allowed to Live Strong. 🙁

Pink logos and dead butterflies just says LIVESTRONG to me! Oh wait.. no...

I actually wanted to see it to believe it, so I found a photo of Lance holding up the bike:

Do you like my pretty pink wheel set?

What do you think? Cool? Lame? Overpriced? Weird?
